A wonderfully handsome five bedroom Victorian house standing on a premier street close to Peckham Rye. Second-to-none decor at every angle, notable square footage, superb living spaces, and a broad and sunny aspect garden all to be enjoyed by all the family. Original cornicing and plasterwork adorn a warm and inviting entrance to a house with superb scale. The through receptions are beautifully finished, boasting generous width and ceiling heights, and original fire places with marble surrounds. Every room is well proportioned and appropriately finished, and the property's capacity for entertaining is found not only in the combined receptions but in an exceptional kitchen and dining room. Natural light fills this fantastic space – the layout and volume works perfectly for family living and will easily allow for the numbers when it comes to entertaining. Addressing the dining area the characterful and tranquil garden is well-established with a sunny aspect and atmospheric water feature – a superb space for hot Summer days and warm evenings. And if you’re not using one of the five bedrooms to cater to working-from-home then the downstairs arrangement will work on its own. Upstairs is well-lit and fluidly arranged with five bedrooms and family bathroom and with a distinct top floor including an additional separate bathroom. The décor and scale are superb.

Harlescott Road is one of the most attractive Victorian streets in SE15 and is just a few minutes’ walk from Peckham Rye. Popular and reputable local schools are well within reach and there are numerous transport links into Zone One giving you several quick routes into Central London and beyond. Green spaces are all around and for food and drink you’ve Lordship Lane, Forest Hill Road, the Bellenden area and Nunhead Lane to serve your every fancy – some good local pubs too.

An exceptional five bedroom family home in a brilliant location. Call haart of Dulwich to view.

What the owners say

We have lived in Harlescott Road for 23 years, initially we rented the house from a family friend, then bought it as we loved the area so much.

These Victorian houses are amazing as they are so versatile and really do grow with your family! We have gone from a newly married couple to a family of 4 and have easily accommodated 10 for Christmas in recent years!

We were lucky to be able to fully renovate the property between 2013-2017, at which point we had already lived in the house for 16 years. This was brilliant because we understood exactly what we needed to do to make it work for us as a family (double glazing, lots of storage, a separate bathroom for the children, a downstairs loo and two areas we could use to watch TV / play Xbox / have friends around were all high on the list)! We wanted to make it ‘teenager proof’!!

Before we did anything, because we had lived in the area for so long we were able to visit several friends’ houses that had been converted which helped us to work out exactly what we wanted, the pros and cons of different layouts etc. We also used tried and tested builders who came from personal recommendations. The work was all done for us, with the intention being it would be our forever home so we wanted it done right.

Although only 6 miles from Central London, Nunhead definitely has a village feel to it with a strong sense of community. The shops in Nunhead Lane are great and it's a pleasant walk over the park to East Dulwich.

Both our children have gone to Ivydale School and really enjoyed it. They have loads of local friends and they all enjoy and make full use of our local park.

One of the best things about this part of Nunhead is that people don’t drive through here unless they need to– we are ‘cut off’ from major traffic routes by the train line, the beautiful, 52 acre Victorian cemetery (which feels like walking in a nature reserve / woodland), and by 64 acres of Peckham Rye Park – that’s over 100 acres of greenspace right on our doorstep! I believe this also contributes to better air quality compared to other parts of South London. To have all of that, yet be only 6 miles from Central London / Zone 2 travel zone with access to all the museums, theatres and restaurants really is remarkable.
